2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible GTC
Dynamometer Runs conducted on 07 February 2004

On Saturday, 07 FEB 2004, a couple of friends (Matt "LB3711" and Jon "red 02r/t" from 2GSS.net) and I went to East Side Performance to conduct some dyno runs. Shannon "fast_mami", also of 2GSS.net, could not make it there herself, but was kind enough to let me borrow her front wheels for the occasion. (I had studded snow tires mounted on my rims, and did not want to damage the dyno roller with them.) Several add-on components were tested.

Components tested included the stock intake, a "ghetto" style intake, the F-5 Performance V2 short ram intake, the F-5 Performance V3 short ram intake, the manifold tuning valve addition to my car, the stock manual throttle body, the stock automatic throttle body, a throttle body bored out by The FastMan, and the infamous eRAM Electric Supercharger. All runs shown on this page are linked to larger standalone runs.

The following dyno runs are by themselves. They are not compared to each other. For run composites that show comparison between certain tested parts, scroll down.

Maximum Power: Automatic, 178.02 HP (+0.34 HP)
Maximum Torque: Bored, 170.02 ft-lbf (+0.43 ft-lbf)

The following dyno runs are comparisons of the manifold tuning valve when open, and when shut. For all runs here, the F-5 Performance V3 short ram intake was installed. For the first comparison, the stock automatic throttle was installed. For the second comparison, the bored throttle body was installed.

Keep in mind that the dyno graph for the shut MTV shows higher torque generation below and up to about 4300 RPM.

MTV Open vs. MTV shut
MTV Open vs. MTV shut
Maximum Power: MTV open, 178.02 HP (+20.95 HP)

Maximum Power: MTV Open, 177.68 HP (+1.56 HP)
Maximum Torque: MTV in Automatic, 171.24 ft-lbf (+1.22 ft-lbf)

The following dyno runs are comparisons of the eRam Electric Supercharger. For all runs, the stock automatic throttle body was installed, and the manifold tuning valve was left open. For the e-Ram runs, no filter was used; the eRam was connected directly to the throttle body. For the non-eRam run, the F-5 Performance V3 short ram intake was installed.

The eRam is advertised to give up to 1 psig of boost. For that boost figure, I would expect a gain of around 12 HP and 11 ft-lbf of torque. The eRam is also supposed to consume 40 amps at 14 VDC. This is about 560 watts, or about 0.75 HP drag that the alternator would place on the engine to power the eRam. The real-world results are pitifully smaller than the estimated gains. The minimal gains shown by the eRam do not warrant the $300 that it costs.
